Who Plays Marcus In Netflix's 13 Reasons Why?
"13 Reasons Why" was a cultural phenomenon when the first season aired in 2017. Millions of people tuned in to see the heartbreaking story of Hannah Baker (Katherine Langford), who died by suicide. Before she died, she left behind a series of tapes for her classmates to listen to so that they could better understand why she did what she did. Several of her classmates played a role in her ultimate decision, and one of the people who's mentioned on those tapes is Marcus Cole (Steven Silver).
Marcus is a self-centered student body president who harassed Hannah while on a date. He humiliated her in front of a group of jocks at a diner and made her feel as though she just had to accept his abuse. Silver's great in the part, perfectly encapsulating the smarmy character, and it should come as no surprise to see the actor has gotten plenty of work in the aftermath of "13 Reasons Why."
If you or anyone you know is having suicidal thoughts, please call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255).
Steven Silver could most recently be seen in Council of Dads
Steven Silver got his first acting credit in 2009 with an appearance in an episode of "Unsolved Mysteries." Things were mostly quiet on his resume until he landed the part of Marcus Cole in "13 Reasons Why," but he's landed several gigs in the years since. The last time he appeared on the Netflix teen series was in 2018 for a short arc in Season 2, but he quickly made his way to a pair of performances in "The Obituary of Tunde Johnson" and "All the Little Things We Kill," which both came out in 2019.
The following year, he appeared in the short-lived NBC drama series, "Council of Dads." The premise of the show is that a father Scott Perry (Tom Everett Scott) receives a terminal diagnosis. Wanting to ensure his kids are looked after once he's gone, he forms a "council of dads" so that other adults in the vicinity will know to look after his children. Silver plays Evan Norris, who's the husband of Luly (Michele Weaver), one of Scott's kids.
"Council of Dads" was canceled after a single season, but the future remains bright for the young, talented actor.
