Michaela Watkins To Guest Star On The Mick Season 2
Mickey is about to get a new rival. Entertainment Weekly reports that Michaela Watkins, best known for her starring role on the Hulu comedy Casual, is set to guest star on season two of the Fox sitcom The Mick as a wealthy divorcee who is currently at rock bottom– a placement that puts her both alongside and at odds with Kaitlin Olson's Mickey.
The Mick follows Olson's character after she is forced to take on parenting duties for her niece and nephews after her sister and her husband flee the country. Watkins is set to play Trish, a new friend of Mickey's who has a crush on her on-again, off-again boyfriend Jimmy (Scott MacArthur), causing Mickey to reevaluate their relationship.
"I wanted to make sure we explored the Mickey-Jimmy relationship this year, because I think it's such an interesting dynamic," Olson said. Added creators Dave and John Chernin, "There's a lot of high[s] and lows in the Jimmy-Mickey romance this year."
Watkins has played one half of the brother-sister pairing at the center for Hulu's Casual for the show's three seasons. The actress, who was a cast member on Saturday Night Live for the 2008-2009 season, is a fairly prolific guest star, popping up on shows like Charmed, Grey's Anatomy, Parenthood, Curb Your Enthusiasm, New Girl, The Goldbergs, Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp, and Transparent.
Watkins has also had more regular roles on The New Adventures of Old Christine, Enlightened, and Trophy Wife, in addition to appearing in movies like The Back-Up Plan, Wanderlust, Brigsby Bear, How to be a Latin Lover, The House, and Lazy Eye. On top of all that, she played the Ivana to Johnny Depp's Donald in Donald Trump's The Art of the Deal: The Movie.
Sofia Black-D'Elia, Thomas Barbusca, Jack Stanton, and Carla Jimenez also star in The Mick, which returns for season two on Sept. 26 at 9 p.m. on Fox. While we wait, see some of the other TV shows that you have to look forward to this year.
