X-Men: Dark Phoenix Will Be 'Very Different' For Beast

Everyone changes, even blue, hairy mutants.

While little is known about the plot of the upcoming X-Men: Dark Phoenix (aside from what we can guess from the comics), it sounds like at least one of the characters will be in store for something different.

Nicholas Hoult, who has played Beast since X-Men: First Class, recently told Entertainment Tonight Canada that the movie will be a departure for his character. "It's very different for Beast this time, and that was part of the appeal of doing the movie for me," Hoult said. "Simon Kinberg, who wrote and directed this time, had great ideas for where he wanted the character to go, so I was excited."

In the latest movies, Beast is very unhappy with his mutation and he spent much of his time trying to find a cure. But that backfired, turning him into someone with mutated feet into the full-bodied Beast. He tried to find ways to suppress his mutation and eventually seemed to come to terms with it.

But in the comics, Beast is a wise intellectual who is completely at peace with his unusual appearance, and he becomes a mentor to the younger students at Xavier's school. Is it possible that he'll transition into that sort of character? We'll probably have to wait to find out until X-Men: Dark Phoenix hits theaters on Nov. 2, 2018.

Meanwhile, check out the dark side of the X-Men you never knew about.
