Phil Lord And Chris Miller Developing Soccer Mom Sitcom
The duo of Phil Lord and Chris Miller are moving from a galaxy far, far away to one much closer to everyday life on Earth.
Variety reports that the pair have sold a new sitcom to ABC. Currently titled We Can Do Better, the potential series would follow a "woke" soccer mom who deals with her life in the south as a wife, mom, American citizen, and daughter of hardcore conservatives.
Liz Cackowski (The Last Man on Earth, Community) wrote the script and will serve as executive producer. Lord and Miller will executive produce for 20th Century Fox TV, where Lord and Miller have an overall deal.
This will be the first project for Lord and Miller since they departed the Han Solo standalone movie due to creative differences with Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy. Ron Howard was tapped to take over. They currently executive produce the Fox comedy Last Man on Earth, for which they received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series. They also co-directed The LEGO Movie, 21 Jump Street, and 22 Jump Street.
We'll let you know as more details emerge. Meanwhile, find out what really happened behind the scenes of the Han Solo movie.
