Watch The Trailer For Maze Runner: The Death Cure
Every maze has an end in the first trailer for Maze Runner: The Death Cure. The upcoming trilogy capper brings back Dylan O'Brien's Thomas and his band of escaped Gladiators as they embark on their most dangerous mission yet.
The trailer begins by recapping what has come before, showing a quick cut of the events of The Maze Runner and Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials. It then moves into the exploits of the most recent film, which features the group attempting to break into the legendary Last City, a WCKD-controlled labyrinth that may turn out to be the most deadly maze they have ever faced.
"Three years we spent behind walls trying to break out, and now we want to break back in," says Thomas Brodie-Sangster's Newt, as the group looks over the fortified, futuristic city from afar. The trailer shows that their mission will not be easy, as Kaya Scodelario's Teresa tells Thomas that he won't be able to save everyone. "I can try," he replies.
However, it seems that his efforts to find answers will face even more trials, and Thomas seems to lose faith at one point, saying that there is no cure that will make this all stop. "Thomas, you can save your friends or you can save us all," Patricia Clarkson's Ava Paige ominously tells him.
The Death Cure was delayed almost a year from its planned release after O'Brien suffered an injury on set; it is currently set to hit theaters on Jan. 26, 2018. Giancarlo Esposito, Walton Goggins, Aidan Gillan, Rosa Salazar, Nathalie Emmanuel, Will Poulter, Jacob Lofland, Barry Pepper, and Ki Hong Lee also star in the film, which is directed by Wes Ball.
