Marvel Will Resurrect A Hugely Popular Character This Week
Contains spoilers for Marvel Legacy #1
Jean Grey won't be the only member of the X-Men to return from the dead on the pages of Marvel comics in the coming months.
According to Comic Book, Wolverine will return in the first issue of Marvel Legacy. That's not all: he'll have one of the Infinity Stones with him.
"Yes, Logan is back from the dead," Marvel editor-in-chief Axel Alonso said. "After three years of a Logan-free Marvel Universe, Logan is back, claws popped and ready for action. How he came back, why he came back, and just how he came into possession of that Infinity Stone are part of a fascinating story that's going to unveil soon, and in some unusual places."
Although Wolverine died at the end of the 2014 comic book miniseries Death of Wolverine, the Secret Wars event the following year introduced "Old Man Logan," an older version of the character from an alternate timeline.
The return of Wolverine will actually mark the third time that an X-Men character will come back from the dead this year. Jean Grey will return in the Phoenix Resurrection series launching in December, and the Astonishing X-Men series opened with the resurrection of Charles Xavier, who died in 2012's Avengers vs. X-Men series.
Marvel Legacy #1, a 50-page one-shot from writer Jason Aaron and artist Esad Ribic that will tell the origin of the Marvel Universe, will be released Sept. 27.
