Josh Hutcherson, Kaya Scodelario To Star In Romeo And Juliet Update

Romeo and Juliet is getting a reboot.

Variety reports that Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games) and Kaya Scodelario (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales) have signed on to star in the action-romance Die in a Gunfight, an update on William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.

The pair will play star-crossed lovers who want to "break from the confines of their lives that fuels their passion for each other," but their families have a long-standing feud. The movie will take place amid a backdrop of corporate espionage and revenge. Helen Hunt and Olivia Munn co-star in the flick.

Collin Schiffli (Animals) will direct based on a script by Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari (Ant-Man and the Wasp).

Shakespeare first published Romeo and Juliet as a play in 1597. It's been adapted countless times by Hollywood, notably by directors George Cukor, Franco Zeffirelli, and Baz Luhrmann.

We'll let you know when more details emerge. Until then, check out the failed audition that cost Hutcherson a major role.
