The Sons Of Anarchy Actors You Didn't Know Were Married In Real Life

FX is known for its gritty and provocative series. Though it is better known today as the network that brings you "American Horror Story" and related Ryan Murphy projects, it wasn't so long ago that "Sons of Anarchy" was one of its flagship shows. Created by "The Shield" veteran Kurt Sutter, the series depicts the highly fictionalized world of a motorcycle club in Northern California. "Sons of Anarchy," like many Sutter properties, is not for the faint of heart. Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam) starts out as vice president of SAMCRO and, through the course of the show, becomes enveloped by the toxic and bloody world surrounding him.

And though things end tragically for him in the series finale, there are moments of light. Love and family are major components of the series. Jax would do anything for his wife Tara (Maggie Siff), and everything he does is to protect his sons from the club's dynamics. Relationships tie all the characters together, which is present on screen as well as off. As proof of this, two actors on the series are actually married, though their scenes together were few and far in between.

Otto and Gemma are married in real life

Kurt Sutter is not only the inventive mind behind "Sons of Anarchy" but also appears in the show from time to time. For 20 episodes, Sutter plays Sons of Anarchy member Otto Delaney, who does time in prison for his role in the club (via IMDb). Otto has a few significant moments in the show such as dealing with his wife Luann's (Dendrie Taylor) devastating death. But perhaps more well known is Sutter's real-life wife, Katey Sagal, who stars in the series for all seven seasons.

Sagal is arguably the bigger name in the partnership as she has been performing in the entertainment industry for many years. Her breakout role was as Peg Bundy on "Married... With Children," and since then, she has gone on to portray the unforgettable matriarch of the Sons of Anarchy, Gemma Teller-Morrow. Never to be trifled with, Gemma is savage, which makes her a character that fans love to hate.

Sutter and Sagal married in 2004, and she is often involved in his productions. Sagal has had a role in "The Shield" and also acted in Sutter's miniseries "The Bastard Executioner." The couple has one daughter together, and despite recent health concerns, they seem stronger than ever. Sagal was unfortunately hit by a car in L.A. in October 2021 but Sutter took to Instagram to reveal she was recovering nicely. She remains as active as ever, appearing in "The Conners" and returning for animated sci-fi comedy "Futurama" (per IMDb).
