The Ridiculous Moment In Obi-Wan Kenobi Part IV That Has Fans So Divided
Time to huddle up with your favorite wookies, padawans worldwide — the first four episodes of the Disney+ series "Obi-Wan Kenobi" are live on the streamer and ready for you to digest between sips of blue milk.
Any "Star Wars" fan worth their weight in coaxium has a tendency to develop strong opinions about the franchise, and they're not afraid to wield those feelings like lightsabers whenever they're either disappointed in or delighted by the onscreen antics of their favorite Jedi. Some fans have complained about the shortness of the show's run time, while a segment of the fandom has been so angry about Moses Ingram's performance as Reva that Ewan McGregor made a statement about some of the comments on his social media. However, others have said that they loved the show's opening sequence and have a soft spot in their hearts for Vivien Lyra Blair, who plays a younger version of Princess Leia in the series.
This time, fans have some major critiques about a small scene that took place during the fourth episode of "Obi-Wan Kenobi." While some loved it, others found this moment far too silly to be believed.
This article contains spoilers for "Obi-Wan Kenobi" Episode 4.
Fans saw through Leia's disguise
During Episode 4 of "Obi-Wan Kenobi," Princess Leia (Blair) and Obi-Wan Kenobi (McGregor) try to escape from Reva (Ingram) after the Inquisitor kidnaps the princess in the hope of torturing sensitive information out of her. Kenobi's solution to the problem is hiding Leia under his trenchcoat. He augments the disguise by plunking an officer's hat atop his head. It understandably doesn't work, as Reva quickly finds them, and Kenobi is ultimately forced to use other means to save the princess.
Over on r/StarWars, some fans had a bone to pick with the scene. "I cannot believe that the giant trench-coat disguise didn't work. Scooby-Doo: 1, Obi Wan: 0," joked u/ThatEvanFowler. "The only thing worse than the horrible disguise was the fact that they didn't acknowledge how bad it was. Like...why not have a moment where Kenobi says 'This will never work' and the response is 'Well we don't have a choice!'" agreed u/AmishAvenger.
Some fans pointed out that the disguise still worked, like u/Wraithfighter. "Yes, if you look directly at Obi-wan, it obviously isn't going to work. But with alarms blaring, in a crowded area where everyone has their own s*** to deal with? How often are you really going to look at someone directly?" they noted. Agreed u/dunderdan23, "idk everyone around them were in panic, I can believe that it could work honestly."
The cheekiest comment came from u/LazarusOwenhart, who kidded, "Surely he had a bad feeling about it?" Bad feelings or not, the scene is definitely memorable.
