The Avengers That Fans Wish Had More Screen Time In Endgame's Final Fight
It's been a few years since "Avengers: Endgame" hit theaters and achieved the incredible feat of closing the chapter for some big-name characters that started the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, of course, sacrifices his own life to make the final snap that sets everything back to normal in the MCU after the Avengers lose in "Avengers: Infinity War." Chris Evans' Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, is also finally able to have that dance with his love, Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), after returning the Infinity Stones to their appropriate locations along the timeline. With so many heroes and so many stories to feature on-screen in one movie, it's certainly impressive that "Avengers: Endgame" is what it is — and even more impressive that it remains the second-highest-grossing film ever (via Box Office Mojo).
"Avengers: Endgame" sees nearly every hero that fans have met over the years finally team up in a hand-to-hand battle against Thanos (Josh Brolin) and his armies during the film's final fight. We're able to witness Peter Parke (Tom Holland) fight again and reunite with Tony, Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) take on Thanos herself, Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) crash through Thanos' ships, and even Rocket (Bradley Cooper) and Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) shoot down Chitauri together.
In fact, there's rarely a hero who isn't featured on-screen, if only briefly, in the final battle. However, some fans wish that certain members of the Avengers had a little more screen time during that scene.
Fans think Black Panther, Mantis, Doctor Strange, and others should have gotten more screen time
Redditor u/TheGalagaGuy initiated the conversation by asking fellow MCU fans, "If you could see one character get more screentime [sic] in Endgame's final fight, who would it be and what abilities would you like to see being used by your choice?"
Many fans responded, including u/DustinCrediblySexy, who mentioned a rumored storyboard where the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) punches Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) into a Leviathan, therefore setting off the Black Panther suit's kinetic energy feature and destroying the giant beast. Redditor u/Taserface616 professed, "I really wish we got to see Mantis go full badass like the comics and the other Guardians having surprised faces," while u/Acrobatic-Manner explained, "I just wish Dr. Strange did more than open portals and hold some water back."
As far as why some characters didn't get more screen time, it's most likely that Anthony and Joe Russo had to make tough decisions about who to feature that served the plot of the story best. The directing duo has noted that "Avengers: Endgame" was already a difficult story to tell (via Los Angeles Times), so making sure every hero got their allotted screen time was likely incredibly difficult.
