The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Trailer, Premiere Date Released
The worlds of Amy Sherman-Palladino have a way of comforting the body like a wool sweater, and warming the insides like a perfect-temperature cup of coffee. So consider this next bit of news as a near-Christmas miracle: the newest series from the Gilmore Girls creator will arrive just in time for winter, Amazon announced today.
The series, The Marvelous Ms. Maisel, follows Miriam "Midge" Maisel, a charmed young woman in New York in 1958 whose life becomes upended when her marriage ends in an unexpected divorce. Taking tragedy and turning it into profit, she channels her drunken depression after the dissolution of her love life into a touring stand-up comedy act, scandalizing polite society and the law with her frank, sometimes obscene thoughts on marriage and the sexes.
With Rachel Brosnahan in the lead role of Miriam "Midge" Maisel, the series also stars Tony Shalhoub as Midge's father Abe, and Alex Borstein as her agent Susie. Michael Zegen and Marin Hinkle will also appear as Midge's husband and mother, respectively.
The pilot for the series was released on Amazon in March as a part of their pilots project, and is available for streaming now for users of Amazon Prime. The remaining episodes of the first season will arrive on Nov. 29.
