First Image Released From Horror Sequel Strangers: Prey At Night
The 2008 real-life inspired horror movie The Strangers is finally getting a long-in-the-making sequel next year. Now the first image from the movie has been released, along with a confirmed title and release date.
According to a news item at Bloody Disgusting, the Strangers sequel will be released under the relatively standalone title Strangers: Prey at Night.
The sequel will reportedly follow a family on a road trip to visit their relatives who live in a trailer park, which appears to be deserted upon their arrival. In the night, the family is attacked by the three masked killers from the first movie, their motivations unknown but murderous intentions are very, abundantly clear.
It's long been something of a surprise that the sleeper hit horror movie never spawned a sequel until now, especially considering its endlessly mutable concept of masked home invaders who kill randomly for no clear reason. A sequel tentatively titled The Strangers: Part II was initially announced shortly after the release of the original movie in 2008, with the first movie's director Bryan Bertino slated to write the film and visual effects artist Laurent Briet set to direct.
With that iteration of the movie having failed to materialize over the years, Strangers: Prey at Night is finally on its way with a new creative team, directed by 47 Meters Down director Johannes Roberts with a script reworked by writer Ben Ketai. The movie was shot on location in Kentucky over the summer.
Strangers: Prey at Night stars Christina Hendricks, Bailee Madison, Lewis Pullman and Martin Henderson, with the recast trio of masked killers being played by Emma Bellomy, Lea Enslin, and Damian Maffei.
The new photo from the movie shows Madison's character, Kinsey, screaming for help while the killer known as Dollface looms menacingly behind, and you can check it out below.
Strangers: Prey at Night will be released by Aviron Pictures on March 9, 2018.
