This Has Got To Be One Of The Best Moments Between Thor And Loki

Despite all the unlikely pairings we've seen throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there is still no duo that can match the chemistry of Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston). The two (adoptive) brothers grew up together as the princes of Asgard and as such, have developed a dynamic that is equal parts spiteful, caring, and comedic. Although Thor and Loki spend much of their time in the MCU fighting each other, the more lighthearted side of their relationship is thoroughly explored in 2017's "Thor: Ragnarok," which forces the two rivals to (temporarily) bury the hatchet and fight together against their sister, Hela (Cate Blanchett).

There are plenty of downright hilarious moments between the two brothers in the film, including Loki's vindication as he watches Thor being beaten senseless by the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and Thor's discovery of Loki in Asgard, wherein the latter is posing as their father, Odin (Anthony Hopkins), and watching a play about his supposed sacrifice for Asgard's survival. There are also a few emotionally powerful moments between the two throughout the movie, and it becomes clear that the brothers do love one another, despite all the bad blood in their past. Still, there is perhaps no better moment between Thor and Loki than the one near the climax of "Thor: Ragnarok," which manages to capture every aspect of their relationship all at once.

The electrocution scene in Thor: Ragnarok captures their relationship in a powerful way

The scene in question comes after the two escape from the clutches of the Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum) on the planet Sakaar, and Loki (as always) attempts to betray his brother by turning him over to the authorities for a reward. This time, however, Thor is ready. The god of thunder quickly defeats Loki with a hidden electrocution device and leaves him behind as he flies off to save the day. On top of the fact that the scene is a playful reversal of their roles from previous films (wherein Loki manages to consistently outsmart Thor), it also serves as a powerful stepping stone for both characters moving forward.

Despite all that Loki has done, Thor still believes there is some good left in him and encourages him to do better in the future — while also accepting that it's no longer his responsibility to fix him. The scene brings Thor's arc to an end in a brilliant way, displaying just how much he has grown as a person in a way that captures the humor and playfulness that we've seen so often between the brothers.

Perhaps the real importance of this scene, though, is the impact that Thor's final words seem to have on Loki. As we see in "Avengers: Infinity War," those parting words finally manage to turn Loki from a mischievous trickster into a full-blown antihero as he sacrifices himself in the fight against Thanos (Josh Brolin) in an act of selflessness. Thus, this small scene manages to perfectly capture the unique dynamic between the two brothers while also setting the stage for the conclusion of their shared arc, making it one of the greatest Loki and Thor moments in the entire MCU.
