Harley Quinn Season 3 Release Date, Cast, And Trailer - What We Know So Far

Polish up your mallets and water your plants because Season 3 of HBO Max's "Harley Quinn" is almost here. The series features the ongoing adventures of the titular grey-hatted antihero (voiced by Kaley Cuoco), who careens through Gotham City with best-friend-turned-girlfriend Poison Ivy (Lake Bell). While Ivy doesn't want every second of their lives to be wrapped up in their villainous doings, Harley can't help but get into shenanigans at every single turn.

When we last left our favorite partners in crime, Kite Man (Matt Oberg) has just broken up with Ivy at the altar when he realizes Harley is in love with Ivy, and vice-versa. The two villains get together and run away from Gotham as a duo — and to avoid Commissioner Jim Gordon (Christopher Meloni), Amanda Waller, and the other do-gooders who stand in their way.

While Harl-Ivy might be hoping for true love and a little R&R, fate seems to have other plans. Enter what Harley dubs the "Eat. Bang! Kill. Tour," which definitely seems to set a tone and mood for the direction of the show's third season. The first look trailer for Season 3 (via YouTube) definitely hints that mayhem, chaos, and some fairly blue shenanigans are headed the audience's way. Here's what we know so far about the third chapter of HBO Max's "Harley Quinn."

What is the release date of Harley Quinn Season 3?

Thanks to an official press release from HBO Max spread far and wide on June 28, "Harley Quinn" Season 3 will hit the streaming service on Thursday, July 28. According to Collider, the season's first two episodes will premiere early at San Diego Comic-Con 2022. Collider adds that three episodes of the show will be posted to HBO Max on July 28, with new episodes premiering on the platform every Thursday at midnight. It is also noted by the outlet that this release news means the show's third season finale should be ready for viewing on September 15.

Additionally, it means the third season of "Harley Quinn" will be 10 episodes long. Fans can expect that the show will run for 23 minutes per installment, a mark nearly every episode of the show hits runtime-wise (via IMDb). As such, Harley Quinn fans are gonna get plenty of bang for their (HBO Max subscription fee) buck.

Who is in the cast of Harley Quinn Season 3?

As confirmed by an official HBO Max press release (and by Variety), the gang is all here for Season 3, including Lake Bell as Poison Ivy and Kaley Cuoco as Harley Quinn. Alan Tudyk is back to voice both the ever-dramatic Clayface and The Joker; Ron Funches will return as King Shark; Jason Alexander returns to voice Sy Borgman, Harley's landlord; and J. B. Smoove will be back as Frank the Plant. Additionally, Tony Hale will return as Dr. Psycho, via Collider. Diedrich Bader's Batman has a few lines in the trailer, Sanaa Lathan's Catwoman pops up, and one can spy Briana Cuoco's Batgirl in the fray as well, signaling their return to Season 3, too.

"Harley Quinn" will definitely be home to some brand-new faces during Season 3. Amanda Waller appears in the show for the first time — having been apparently kidnapped by Harley. Also kidnapped by Harley? Director James Gunn — and yes, that really is Gunn voicing himself on the HBO Max animated series. Apparently, his presence in Gotham relates to his dream of creating a Thomas Wayne biopic. Other familiar DC Comics faces turn up during the trailer, too. You can spy the Court of Owls and Swamp Thing in a few briefly-shown moments during the proceedings.

But what about Kite Man? Per TV Line, he's about to lead his own spin-off (working title: "Noonan's"), which is about an after-hours watering hole where villains hang out. No word as to whether or not he'll make an appearance on "Harley Quinn" anytime soon.

Is there a Harley Quinn Season 3 trailer?

On June 28, HBO Max posted a trailer for the third season of "Harley Quinn" on Instagram and YouTube. As you can see from the mayhem-laden joyride depicted in the first look at the new season, Harley and Ivy are definitely still a couple after the events of Season 2. After embarking on their "Eat. Bang! Kill. Tour," the women return to Gotham, spring Clayface and King Shark from prison, and set about trying to navigate their relationship. Harley also has one huge goal to accomplish this season: She's hoping to make Ivy's dream of turning Gotham City into a big garden.

Per a September 2020 Entertainment Weekly interview with co-showrunner Justin Halpern, it appears that Harley and Ivy's romance is going to be a huge part of the upcoming season. "[T]his is the first time they're both going to be in a relationship where they really and truly have affection towards one another. They have a lot of responsibility. So I think like, 'What is it like to be in a good relationship after you've only ever been in bad relationships with abusive people?' is a big theme we want to play with," he told the magazine. And soon, fans of Quinn and Ivy will find out what true love looks like for them.

"Harley Quinn" Season 3 arrives on HBO Max on Thursday, July 28.
