All American Season 5 - What We Know So Far
The CW series "All American" has become a powerhouse for the network, gaining a substantial following since it first came out on the small screen in October 2018. The compelling sports drama has been a big hit with critics and fans, with the first two seasons garnering incredibly impressive scores on Rotten Tomatoes. The series has also been nominated for several NAACP Image Awards, and when it comes to ratings, the popular program has topped the Nielsen rankings (via TVLine), proving its championship status as a worthwhile experience from start to finish.
"All American" is a broadly inspired take on the life of now-retired NFL Super Bowl champion Spencer Paysinger. Daniel Ezra stars in the series as the promising student athlete, a young man with big dreams of football stardom who gets his big break when he is recruited by Beverly Hills High, a much different atmosphere than what he is used to back in Crenshaw. Altogether, there are four seasons, with a total of 71 entries to enjoy.
Season 4 was full of surprises (as was Season 3), and it's no wonder that fans everywhere are eager to know how the story will continue. Fortunately, it was renewed for a fifth season in March (via Deadline). Everyone wondering what will happen with Spencer James and Olivia Baker (played by Samantha Logan) after that bombshell ending will finally get their answer, and cast member Michael Evans Behling hinted to TheWrap that the first half of the Season 5 will be explosive. Here is everything fans should know about "All American" Season 5, which premiered on October 10, 2022.
What happens in Season 5 of All American?
By the end of Season 4, not all of Spencer's relationships were working out the way he had planned. Daniel Ezra spoke with TVLine about the shocking moment between him and Olivia and how it will affect the way his character moves forward next season: "[Having] her now, suddenly, in direct conflict with his football dreams ... I don't think he ever entertained any scenario where the two of them would be on actual opposing sides."
Tamia "Coop" Cooper (Bre-Z) is set for an intriguing journey in Season 5, thanks partly to her inspiring time as a legal assistant. In the same interview, she said, "I want to see her do something different. I want to see her develop more skill in dealing with people and dealing with situations, and I think working with Laura Baker will definitely help her do that, change her perspective a bit." She seems thrilled about the new direction her character is taking, and fans will not want to miss how things play out for her down the road.
It will also be interesting to see what happens with Olivia's exposé, the fallout from Wade Waters' (Christian James) acquittal for the swatting charge, the kiss between Layla Keating (Greta Onieogou) and Jordan Baker (Michael Evans Behling), and the aftermath of Grace James' (Karimah Westbrook) life-changing offer are just some more exciting storylines to look out for in "All American" Season 5.
Who is in the cast of All American Season 5?
The cast is absolutely one of the highlights of "All American," and it would've been a shame if some of the core members did not return. Thankfully, we'll be seeing four of the major players back for Season 5.
The first is series lead Daniel Ezra, who conveyed his excitement about the show's renewal and showcased his gratitude to fans for their support in a tweet, saying, "Season 5 wow this would not be possible without our amazing fans. Are you excited? How you feeling?" It's clear he was ready to get back on the field for the 13th season.
Based on the interview Ezra and Bre-Z gave to TVLine, she and Samantha Logan both return. Meanwhile, Michael Evans Behling spoke about his Season 5 hopes for Jordan and Spencer with TheWrap, so we can rest assured his character will be back as well. No matter what, fans can undoubtedly expect the unexpected from the story and the cast when in Season 5.
