Who Is Freckled Zelda From America's Got Talent?
Over the course of its run, the variety show "America's Got Talent" has produced a number of uniquely memorable talents, such as the recently deceased Nightbirde, the singing ventriloquist Darci Lynne, and the deaf singer Mandy Harvey.
The show is now in the midst of Season 17, with the judge's panel comprised of Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Sofia Vergara, and Howie Mandel. With "Deadpool 2" star Terry Crews taking on hosting duties, the current season has had its own share of memorable acts, including the one-woman band Mia Morris.
The latest contestant to make a mark on the "America's Got Talent" stage is Freckled Zelda. Calling herself a "music fairy" from the "freckled forest," the contestant drew attention to an ocarina, a type of wind instrument, hanging around her neck, informing the judges that it's also known as a sweet potato flute. Singing an ocarina-accompanied rendition of the song "Colors of the Wind" (originally sung by Judy Kuhn in the Disney film "Pocahontas"), Freckled Zelda proceeded to win over the initially skeptical judges, earning a Yes from all four of them.
Here's more about Freckled Zelda from "America's Got Talent."
Freckled Zelda is a veteran ocarina player
Freckled Zelda is the pseudonym of Rachael Wilson, a 19-year-old musician who specializes in playing the ocarina. She has a YouTube channel on which she has posted covers of songs she has played on the ocarina, along with videos of her playing in public and attending conventions. Her convention videos can also be found on her TikTok channel, where a common theme involves her walking behind cosplayers, playing the ocarina until they happen to notice her.
Freckled Zelda also plays original songs, which are available on Spotify alongside some of her covers. Along with the ocarina, her original songs also involve the guitar, with her latest single, titled "I Feel Rather Sad," using both instruments. A collection of links from her Instagram profile also gives her fans opportunities to buy ocarinas and colored contact lenses, both of which she uses, from certain stores, among other things. She also has her own merchandise store.
In a short video on her TikTok, Freckled Zelda went through her makeup routine in response to a comment decrying that she wears too much makeup. She uses eye contacts, false eyelashes, and lines her lips to achieve her signature fairy look, to go with false ears and the occasional use of concealer.
Freckled Zelda's TikTok has videos of her backstage at "America's Got Talent" as well, showcasing her clear excitement at being on the show.
