Blue Bloods Fans Bring Kimberly And Erin Head-To-Head In The Ultimate Debate
For 12 seasons, "Blue Bloods" has seamlessly blended crime procedural with family drama, a formula that has proven to be successful for the CBS series. Indeed, the show continues to attract millions of viewers every Friday night that it airs. The series is also showing no signs of stopping: before Season 12 had even finished its run, CBS announced a Season 13 renewal for "Blue Bloods."
If the weekly criminal investigations on "Blue Bloods" give the show its structure, then it's the tight-knit Reagan family that acts as the series' beating heart. While everyone in the family works in law enforcement, the sharp-tongued Erin Reagan (Bridget Moynahan) isn't a boots-on-the-ground cop or detective like her brothers. Rather, "Blue Bloods" has shown Erin's climb from working as a prosecutor in the New York County District Attorney's Office to becoming chief of the Trial Bureau.
Erin's legal career has seen her butt heads with criminals, lawyers, and notably even her boss, District Attorney Kimberly Crawford (Roslyn Ruff). Here's what fans really think about an Erin and Kimberly showdown.
Fans prefer Erin over Kimberly
Although Kimberly Crawford's tenure on "Blue Bloods" has been brief, she has already elicited a strong fan reaction. Crawford joined the series in Season 11 to replace crooked DA Samar Charwell (Aasif Mandvi), beating out Erin Reagan for the job. Crawford has been established as a thorn in the side of the entire Reagan clan, in part due to her career rivalry with Erin, but also by butting heads with Police Commissioner Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck) over the treatment of non-violent criminals.
On the r/bluebloods subreddit, u/Legitimate_Age7321 posed a simple question to "Blue Bloods" fans: "Are you team Erin or team Kimberly?" Fans immediately expressed an outpouring of support for Erin. One user, u/Sm4sh3r88, extrapolated further on why they're anti-Crawford. "I'm solidly in Erin's corner," they wrote. "The character of Kimberly Crawford is actively trying to sabotage Erin and has a huge chip on her shoulder."
A lone dissenter, while not exactly a fan of Crawford, came out against Erin. "I will never understand the Erin love honestly," wrote u/save-therhino-. "I don't like Crawford honestly but Erin as DA? That's laughable." With Erin set to run for District Attorney in Season 13, "Blue Bloods" is gearing up for a potential showdown between Crawford and Erin.
For executive producer Kevin Wade, Crawford is just another obstacle. "We have played [Erin] under four or five DA's, with whom she often clashed over principles as well as over ways and means," Wade told Deadline. "So, for her character, the choice seemed to be: if you think you can do the job, then ask for it or otherwise, sit back down."
