Who Plays Poppy In Only Murders In The Building?

"Only Murders in the Building" — starring Steve Martin (who also co-created the series with John Hoffman), Martin Short, and Selena Gomez — premiered on Hulu in August of 2021. The mystery comedy series was a hit right away with both critics and audiences, earning itself a perfect Tomatometer score and a 93% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Naturally, the series was picked up for a 2nd season, which premiered in June of 2022. Better yet, "Only Murders" was even picked up for a 3rd season just a couple of weeks after Season 2 premiered (via Deadline).

The series focuses on three residents of a luxury apartment building in Manhattan — former crime show actor Charles-Haden Savage (Martin), struggling Broadway director Oliver Putnam (Short), and a mysterious young woman named Mabel Mora (Gomez). When another resident is murdered, the three of them realize that they all share a love of true crime and decide to collaborate on a podcast that investigates any murders that occur in their building.

With the premiere of Season 2 came a slew of new characters, such as Cinda Canning, a rival true crime podcast host, played by "Saturday Night Live" alum Tina Fey. Cinda is accompanied by an assistant named Poppy White, who does a lot of the work for the podcast that Cinda takes credit for. In another episode, Poppy spends time digging into Mabel's past.

Poppy is definitely an intriguing character and has played a vital role in Season 2. So, for those curious, who plays Poppy in "Only Murders in the Building"?

Poppy-portrayer Adina Verson is a relative newcomer to acting

The actress who plays Poppy on "Only Murders in the Building," Adina Verson, is a relative newcomer when it comes to the world of acting, with only a total of 10 credits to her name thus far (via IMDb). Verson's first acting gig was in 2014 on the Hulu series "Deadbeat," starring Tyler Labine, on which she played a waitress in one episode. Following "Deadbeat," Shehad guest roles in a slew of various TV shows, such as "The Strain" in 2014 and 2015 "Mozart in the Jungle" in 2016 and 2018 (playing two different characters in two different episodes), and "New Amsterdam" in 2020. She has also acted in two short films, 2015's "To Walk or Run" and 2022's "Troy."

By and large, however, Verson's most notable role so far is undeniably "Only Murders," in which she has appeared in a total of six episodes. In late August of 2021, Verson took to Instagram to declare her gratitude for getting to play Poppy on the mystery-comedy series. "So excited that i got to be a tiny part of this amazing project ['Only Murders in the Building] premiering tomorrow 8/31!" she wrote. "This was a momentous occasion for me, not only [because] of the MARTINS AND SELENA INVOLVED, but it was also my first time working after the pandemic struck ... you can meet my character, poppy, in episodes 4 and 8!"
