Josh Groban Joins Tony Danza's Netflix Series The Good Cop

Netflix is filling out the cast of their upcoming dramedy The Good Cop. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show has added music superstar Josh Groban to its cast as the son of Tony Danza's character.

Danza is set to play Tony Sr., a disgraced former NYPD detective who never followed the rules. This is a stark contrast with his live-in son Tony Jr. (Groban), an honest detective who's a big stickler for playing by the book. Tony Sr. decides it's his job to help his son by giving him advice on everything from handling suspects to handling women.

Although Groban is still best known for his music career, he has branched out into acting many times over the years. This includes a Tony Award-nominated performance in Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812 on Broadway, as well as roles on TV series like Glee, The Office, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Parks and Recreation, Life in Pieces, and, most recently, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. On the big screen, he has appeared in Crazy, Stupid, Love, Muppets Most Wanted, and The Hollars.

The 10-episode The Good Cop, which was ordered straight to series in July, comes from Andy Breckman, the creator of Monk. Experienced TV director Randy Zisk, who has taken on episodes of Bones, Without a Trace, and Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, will step behind the camera for the pilot and will also serve as an executive producer. The show is set to hit Netflix next year.
