Deadpool Creator Meets Cable In Behind The Scenes Photo
While it'll be amazing for all of us to see Josh Brolin as Cable in Deadpool 2, imagine how Rob Liefeld felt coming face-to-face with the character he helped create.
Liefeld, the man behind both Deadpool and Cable, posted a photo (below) from the set of the upcoming Deadpool sequel, and he seemed every bit the fanboy when chatting up Brolin, whom he called "one of the most talented actors of all space and time."
Liefeld wrote in the caption: "Yeah, I dare you to try and meet one of your own creations and not get umpteen butterflies in your stomach. I don't remember anything that was said here besides me thinking "I'm meeting Cable! How awesome is this?"
Cable first appeared as an infant in a 1986 issue of Uncanny X-Men, but Liefeld and writer Louise Simonson reintroduced him as an adult in a 1990 issue of The New Mutants. He's the son of Cyclops and the Jean Grey clone Madelyne Pryor and he's got the sort of timeline-jumping backstory that Deadpool will surely poke fun at. Cable was transported to the future when he was an infant, where he grew into a fierce warrior, before returning to the present.
As for Brolin's performance, Liefeld is beyond impressed. "Mr. Josh Brolin could not be more perfect in this role," he said. "He is amazing and outstanding and you will no doubt be as giddy as I was when watching him portray Cable. His commitment to becoming Cable goes beyond his physical transformation, he found the voice that fans will go crazy about!"
We'll get to meet Cable when Deadpool 2 hits theaters June 1, 2018.
