Deadpool 2 Goes Artistic In Surprising Trailer
The first trailer for Deadpool 2 is here, although it's certainly not what you would expect. The film dropped its newest piece of cheeky marketing material early Wednesday morning, revealing some of its footage hidden in a Deadpool as Bob Ross parody.
The trailer features star Ryan Reynolds in costume as Deadpool painting "wet on wet" with some pretty punny paint names. Of course, Deadpool is an expert artist, and he quickly creates an image full of "cascading white powder" that he'd love to "get high on all of life's splendor" in. "God, I love cocaine," he says. "So much."
After lecturing us on the dangers of eating paint, Deadpool notices that something has ruined his painting, leading to the dreaded "Technical difficulties, please stand by" moniker. This is where the real teaser for the film comes in, showing quick and action-heavy glimpses at the film's plot.
When we come back to the artist Deadpool, he's just finished up work on the Thanksgiving portrait of the film's cast that was released as the movie's poster earlier this month. "Would you like at that, it seems like we have ourselves a finished painting," he says. "So from our family to yours, keep your pants dry, your dreams wet, and remember, hugs not drugs."
The new cast for Deadpool 2 includes Josh Brolin as Cable and Atlanta's Zazie Beetz as Domino. The pair will help assist Deadpool as he faces off against The Strain's Jack Kesy, who many believe will be playing Black Tom, a mutant who can fire concussive blasts using a wooden object and who can manipulate energy through plants. Other new cast members include The Outsiders' Shioli Kutsuna and Hunt for the Wilderpeople's Julian Dennison.
In addition to Reynolds, the movie will also see the return of a few other notable actors from the first flick, including T.J. Miller's Weasel, Morena Baccarin's Vanessa, Brianna Hildebrand's Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Stefan Kapacic's Colossus, Leslie Uggams' Blind Al, and Karan Soni's Dopinder. David Leitch takes over as director for Tim Miller, working off a script from the first movie's Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.
Deadpool 2 is set for a June 1, 2018 release.
