Does Cassie Actually Sing On Netflix's Purple Hearts?
Netflix's "Purple Hearts" stars Sofia Carson as Cassie and Nicholas Galitzine as Luke. The new romance film premiered on July 29, 2022, and is based on the 2017 novel of the same name by Tess Wakefield. The story centers around a waitress who aspires to be a rock star falling in love with a troubled Marine through a sham wedding. Although the two share different values and live vastly different lives, they open up to new possibilities and learn about themselves. Netflix even got permission to film on a real military base.
One thing that is impossible not to love about the film is Cassie's passion for music. There are four original songs, including "Come Back Home," "Blue Side of the Sky," "I Hate the Way," and "I Didn't Know." There is even a music video for the piano version of "Come Back Home." According to Tudum, it was directed by Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum and shot by Matt Sakatani Roe at Sycamore Cove Beach in Malibu.
So is it actually Carson singing in "Purple Hearts?"
Sofia Carson is also a very talented singer
It is her singing! The actress who plays Cassie from "Purple Hearts" may look familiar to some from her time in the "Descendants" franchise, which also featured many notable musical numbers from Sofia Carson. For "Purple Hearts," she co-wrote the soundtrack with Justin Tranter, Eren Cannata, Daniel Crean, and Skyler Stonestreet. Tudum revealed that she even spent months learning to play the piano for that beautiful performance scene at the Hollywood Bowl.
Recently, the singer performed the song live at the Grammy Museum. She celebrated the occasion with a post on her Instagram, captioning it in part, "We wrote this song almost a year ago. Two weeks ago, we released it into the world. Every day we have watched the world fall in love with it, with numbers and stats almost impossible to wrap my head around. And today, we sang it together."
