Chris Evans Wants A Human Torch/Captain America Crossover

The looming Disney-Fox merger has got everyone in Hollywood talking, and one actor knows just what he wants to do should the acquisition deal go through.

The proposed deal, in which Disney would acquire all or almost all of 21st Century Fox's assets on the film and television side, would bring Fox's Marvel properties over to join the rest of the library at Disney-owned Marvel Studios. That includes the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, and a whole slew of villains—and Chris Evans, AKA Captain America, wants to use the opportunity to revisit his first Marvel superhero role, the Human Torch.

The First Avenger and once and future Human Torch commented on the increasingly likely-looking merger on Twitter, pointing out the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity it could provide for his career.

"So who do I talk to about a Cap/Human Torch buddy comedy spin-off?" Evans mused. "I'm thinking Planes, Trains and Automobiles meets Parent Trap."

Of course, the actor isn't being serious, and likely can't wait to hit the exit of the Marvel Cinematic Universe when his contract is up after Avengers 4. And the massive deal is also still not final, leaving the possibility open that talks might collapse in the 11th hour, as it has before.

Still, it's an amusing thing for the actor himself to consider even as he begins to move on from the comic book phase of his life. From Fantastic Four and Marvel Studios to Scott PilgrimSnowpiercer and The Losers, comic books have fueled Evans' career, and the 36-year-old has been open about looking forward to a change.

Frankly, we don't need Evans playing Cap forever—it's definitely about time to promote Bucky or Sam. And as funny as it would be to see Evans as the Human Torch again, that's an SNL sketch, not a feature.

No word yet on what Michael B. Jordan thinks about all this.

Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on May 4, 2018. Hey, wanna watch the trailer again?
