7 Days In Entebbe Trailer Revisits A High-Profile Hijacking

The 1976 hijacking of an Air France flight by Palestinian militants is getting the Hollywood treatment in the first trailer for 7 Days in Entebbe.

During that hijacking-turned-hostage scenario, 106 people were stranded and held captive in the Entebbe International Airport in Uganda by Palestinian militants demanding a mass prisoner release from Israel and other countries. 

The flight, originating in Tel Aviv, Israel and en route to Paris, France, originally contained 248 passengers, but most non-Israeli passengers were allowed to safely depart for France once the plane had landed in Entebbe. The rest of the hostages, mostly Israeli citizens, remained captive, threatened with death if the hijackers' demands went unmet.

The Ugandan government under Idi Amin supported the hijackers, necessitating a dangerous and violent 100-soldier rescue mission by the Israel Defense Forces. That mission, Operation Entebbe, was successfully carried out a week after the hijacking took place.

The movie stars Daniel Brühl, known for Inglourious Basterds, Captain America: Civil War and Rush, and Rosamund Pike of Gone Girl, Jack Reacher, and Die Another Day. Character actor Eddie Marsan will also appear.

7 Days in Entebbe comes from director José Padilha, who previously directed the 2014 Robocop remake as well as two episodes of Narcos on Netflix, which he also produces. It was written by Gregory Burke, who wrote the movie '71.

7 Days in Entebbe lands in theaters on March 16, 2018. Check out the trailer for the movie above.
