- Matt is a freelance entertainment writer.
- He started freelancing in 2020 after graduating university, and has written for a variety of publications including Digital Spy, Starburst, and EMC's MediaMag.
- He wrote his undergraduate dissertation on modern horror films, and his postgraduate major project covered various aspects of the UK film industry in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Experience
Matt discovered his love for entertainment journalism in college, and fostered it when he began writing for the film section of Redbrick, the student newspaper at the University of Birmingham, where he studied for three years. After becoming an editor of the film section in his final year and writing his dissertation on the films of Ari Aster, he realized that film journalism was his ultimate calling. 2020 saw him move across the UK to study journalism in Cardiff: over the course of that year, he put himself into therapy by watching "Shrek" too many times for an article, and completed a major project on the UK film industry in the midst of the pandemic. To date, he has written for publications including Digital Spy, Starburst Magazine, and EMC's MediaMag. His tastes in movies and TV vary, but he loves nothing more than a good horror flick to scare him silly.
Education
Matt holds a bachelors degree in English from the University of Birmingham and a masters degree in Magazine Journalism from Cardiff University, one of the top-ranked universities in the UK for journalism.
