Moná has worked as a professional editor and writer for about five years. Their journey as a pop culture writer began at St. John's University in Jamaica, New York, as a staff writer for the school's student newspaper, The Torch, where they focused on new music, arts and culture, and local news. They interned with VIBE magazine and went into marketing as a copy writer and editor for small businesses following graduation. This path transitioned into being a full-time freelance copy editor for influencers and content creators. Almost accidentally, they found a passion for journalism again and wrote articles for a variety of websites before landing an Associate Editor position at Narcity Media in 2019. Currently, Moná works as a News Editor for Nicki Swift. They are also building a creative brand hyper-focused on the spirituality and wellness practices of our favorite celebrities.
Education
Moná graduated from St. John's University with a bachelor's degree in journalism and mass communications. During their collegiate years, they wrote for the school's official student newspaper, The Torch, and organized the blog for Haraya: The Pan-African Students Coalition.
