Alaina Reed Hall who played Rose Lee Holloway on the hit sitcom “227” (and was married to co-star Kevin Peter Hall) passed away in 2009 at 63 years old from breast cancer. Before "227," Hall was on "Sesame Street" for 12 seasons and was also an accomplished singer and Broadway actor.
Helen Martin played Pearl Shay on "227,” but began her career on the stage and had groundbreaking implications for actors of color. Martin, who transitioned into notable film and television roles, including a part in the original version of the landmark miniseries "Roots,” passed away at 90 in 2000.
Paul Winfield, who played Julian C. Barlow, had an illustrious career that included a historic lead actor Oscar nomination for 1972’s “Sounder.” Winfield, who also starred in such films as "The Terminator," "Presumed Innocent," and "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan," passed away from a heart attack at age 62 in 2004.
