Here's What The Critics Are Saying About Sonic The Hedgehog 2

By EAMMON JACOBS

The first “Sonic the Hedgehog” made $319 million at the worldwide box office, so a sequel was inevitable. The trailer revealed that Tails and Knuckles would be added to the mix, which has excited fans, but what do the critics have to say?

Although the first reviews for "Sonic the Hedgehog 2" have contained their fair share of criticism, it does appear that most critics appreciate the fun atmosphere and characters. The voice acting from Ben Schwartz, Colleen O'Shaughnessey, and Idris Elba has received a lot of praise, and it’s no surprise that critics are drawing attention to the impressive visual effects.

However, not everyone was impressed, with GamesRadar’s Bradley Russell calling out the story’s “reheated” plot points in a mixed review. Variety’s Peter Debruge was harsher on the film, saying that it “takes what was endearing about the original — in a word, personality — and renders it generic in a hurry."

The film is likely to be a hit financially, and with the mostly positive critical reception, it’s to be expected that “Sonic” fans will enjoy it as well. There is plenty more to come in the future, with “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” already greenlit and a Knuckles spin-off series in development.
