The Greg Sanders
Scene That Went
Too Far On CSI
By PAULI POISUO
The character of Greg Sanders (Eric Szmanda) holds the record for the most episode appearances on "CSI,” and he was part of pretty much every high and low of the show. Because of this, it only makes sense that the character's "oh, come on" moment might tie into the show's worst hour.
The Season 9 episode “Mascara,” the show’s 200th, was a particularly goofy episode that focused on a murder at a pro wrestling contest and involved mask theft and Voodoo hallucinogens. This is exactly the kind of episode that goofy, rock-loving nerd Greg would be perfect for, but his role was reduced to uncovering information and sending it to others.
This didn't go unnoticed by the IMDb reviewers, such as ecomposto, who complained, "[Greg and multiple other characters] got almost no screen time at all, and they are the people that I want to watch, not Dr. Raymond Langston.” Greg got peculiar and geeky on some episodes, but it’s the episode where he’s a straight-laced investigator that really bugs fans.
