The Margaery
Tyrell Scene In
Game Of Thrones
That Went Too
Far
By COREY HOFFMEYER
Nearly every character on “Game of Thrones,” whether considered good or evil, has had to make horrific choices. Like all royals, Margaery Tyrell was hungry for power, and although she could be kind and understanding, she still took extreme measures — but this one arc made fans think she went too far.
After Joffrey Baratheon’s assassination, Margaery married the former king’s much kinder, younger, and naiver brother, Tommen. Margaery easily manipulated Tommen, but Tommen’s mother, Cersei Lannister, eventually kills her, prompting Tommen to leap off a tower to his death — so it would appear Margaery’s manipulative tactics weren’t worth it in the end.
Olenna Tyrell, Margaery’s grandmother, was the biggest influence in her life, always encouraging Margaery to value power and control as the main goals in life. Margaery seemed to be a good person and might have tried to keep Tommen safe, but in the end, she wanted power and used Tommen as a pawn, leading him to his horrific fate.
