Orlando Bloom first appeared as Will Turner in "Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl," setting him up for prime spots in the subsequent two sequels, but he would mysteriously disappear for "On Stranger Tides." Many fans were left to wonder why Orlando Bloom didn’t return to the "Pirates" franchise for the fourth film.
Bloom and Will Turner's absence from the fourth film was solely due to the actor wanting to seek out new acting avenues. In a 2010 interview, Bloom joked that Will was likely swimming at the bottom of the ocean among the fish during the events of "On Stranger Tides."
Bloom made a comeback for 2017's "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales." The actor said of the film, "It's fantastic entertainment. Johnny's doing what he does best, so it's 'Pirates' movies at their best, really."
