Song In The
Black Panther:
Wakanda Forever Trailer?
By KIM BELL
Fans eagerly waiting for the "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" November release were not disappointed as Marvel Studios showcased a teaser trailer at SDCC 2022. The trailer was filled with exciting action and heart-breaking scenes accompanied by a moving cover of Bob Marley and The Wailers' "No Woman No Cry."
The legacy of the first installment's hero, Chadwick Bosman, is felt throughout the trailer, adding authentic emotional weight. One scene shows Lupita Nyong'o's Nakia looking toward the horizon over the ocean as the voice of Temilade Openiyi, the award-winning and internationally acclaimed Nigerian music producer and singer, implores her not to cry.
Verses like "Good friends we've lost/Along the way/In this great future, you can't forget your past," speaks to the female characters' narratives and the real-world loss suffered, as the sequel's focus seems to be on Wakanda's women. Openiyi's cover is mixed midway through the trailer with Kendrick Lamar's "Alright," delivering the theme and subtext for "Wakanda Forever's" emotional narrative.
